No. 14 Women's Track & Field Ready for MPSF Championships

The 14th-ranked UCLA women's track and field team will travel to Seattle, WA for the MPSF Indoor Championships February 24-25. The women are led by seniors Chelsea Johnson and Dawn Harper, and junior Kamaiya Warren.
All three of these women are ranked in the top-10 in the nation and top-three in the MPSF in their respective events. Johnson holds the No. 1 pole vault mark in the conference and No. 4 vault in the country (13-11.25). Harper tanked fifth in the nation and second in the MPSF in the 60m hurdles (8.18), while Warren is eighth in the nation and third in the conference in the shot put (54-8). Johnson has already automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships held in two weeks in Fayetteville, AR. Both Harper and Warren have provisional marks, but are almost assured a spot at the Indoor Nationals with their marks so far this season. At the 2005 MPSF Championships, Harper and Warren won individual titles with Harper winning the 60mH in a time of 8.12 and Warren winning the shot with a throw of 52-6.
The Women's distance medley relay team, also an NCAA provisional qualifier with a time of 11:23.05, rank 14th in the nation and third in the conference. The 4x400m relay team holds the No. 1 spot in the MPSF with a time of 3:43.53.
Junior Ashley Caldwell has the sixth-fastest mile time in the conference going into this weekend's meet (4:49.35). Sophomore Renee Williams ranks third in the MPSF in the long jump with an NCAA provisional jump of 20-1.50. Junior MacKenzie Hill (60mH-8.74) and freshman Chanelle Curry (400m, 56.79) rank 10th in their respective events.
