Troy Set To Host Ashworth Invitational Monday And Tuesday

USC's No. 21 men's golf team returns to action next week when it hosts its annual Ashworth Invitational at the North Ranch Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif., Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 27-28).
The 15-team field, featuring many of the nation's top teams, will play 36 holes Monday on North Ranch's par-71, 6,900-yard course and another 18 holes on Tuesday. Action begins with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday, with tee times ranging from 7:30 to 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday.
The field for the tournament, now in its 29th consecutive year, includes USC, UCLA, UC Davis, BYU, Oregon, Oregon State, Tennessee, Coastal Carolina, Fresno State, Pepperdine, Georgia Southern, San Diego State, Oklahoma, Stanford and Washington.
Senior Taylor Wood, who has been USC's highest finisher in two of six tournaments, leads the Trojans with a 72.38 stroke average while junior Joshua Wooding is second (73.00) on the team. Senior Tyler Ley is averaging 73.73 and is followed by senior Bradley Shaw (74.78), junior Jordan Nasser (75.17) and freshmen Ryan Linton (75.78) and Tom Glissmeyer (78.33).
USC has won this tournament three times (1991, 1997 and 2002) and Sam Randolph is the only Trojan to win the individual title (1984). The Trojans were third last year with outgoing senior Ben Hayes the highest USC finisher (tie for 10th).
