Feb. 25, 2006

LOS ANGELES, CALIF. -- The 23rd-ranked USC men's tennis team got a pair of crucial three-set singles wins from Dejan Cvetkovic and Chong Wang to lock away a 4-3 win over visiting No. 53 Arizona on Saturday at Marks Stadium. The victory improves the Trojans to 6-4 on the season and completes a winning weekend for USC.

USC tacked up the first point of the match thanks to doubles wins from Jamil Al-Agba / Dejan Cvetkovic and from Adam Loucks / Garrett Snyder. That brought up singles play, where Loucks pounded out a 6-3, 6-4 win at the No. 4 position to get USC on top 2-0 in the match. Arizona pulled out wins at the No. 1, 3 and 6 singles slots, but the Trojans outlasted their three-set battles at the No. 2 and 5 positions to get the win. Cvetkovic got the Trojans their third point of the day by coming back from dropping the first set in a tiebreaker to win the match 6-7, 6-2, 6-3. Wang was the next Trojan to bounce back with a third-set victory, winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to get the Trojans the win.

USC next faces defending NCAA champion UCLA at 1;30 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 28) at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
