The Cardinal won five-of-six games against nationally ranked teams by sweeping then No. 5 Cal State Fullerton and winning two-of-three over then No. 7 Texas ... • Stanford opened a 10-game road stand at Fresno State last night that will continue with the final two games of a series against the Bulldogs on Saturday and Sunday, before taking the Cardinal to California (March 3-5), San Jose State (March 7) and USC (March 10-12) ... Stanford will not return home until hosting Washington State in its first Pac-10 series Saturday-Monday, March 25-27, after a 12-day break from March 13-24 for finals
• Despite its early season success, Stanford is unranked in the latest Baseball America poll that was released on Monday, February 20 (the Cardinal was ranked in the other three -- #12 Collegiate Baseball, #17 NCBWA, #22 Rosenblatt Report) ... Stanford was ranked in the Baseball America poll for two weeks before losing the Kansas series ... The Cardinal jumped into the poll at No. 19 on February 6 after the Fullerton sweep and just stayed in at No. 24 following the series loss to Kansas but dropped out after splitting the first two games of the Texas series ... Stanford had not been ranked in the preseason poll for the first time since the publication started the rankings in 1981 ... In addition, Stanford was in the rankings for 227 consecutive weeks from 1994-2005 before dropping out on May 16, 2005
• Stanford looks to be breaking out of an early season offensive slump with a .303 team batting average and 40 hits during its four-game win streak, including a season-best 14 in Monday's 13-9 win over Texas when the Cardinal also registered a season-high in runs
• Michael Taylor (.533, 8-15, 8 RBI) and Chris Minaker (.471, 8-17, HR, 6 RBI) are leading the surge three-game win streak with Taylor also the owner of a five-game hit streak
• Stanford's pitching staff has recorded a 3.33 team ERA, which would be the lowest mark since the 1973 club checked in at 2.64 were the season to end today
• Freshman pitcher Jeremy Bleich has already recorded five saves and a 1-0 record while appearing in seven of his first 11 games at Stanford, giving up just four hits and one run with nine strikeouts in 11.1 scoreless innings and posting a .108 opponents' batting average
• Stanford played before a season-high 3704 in last night's series-opener at Fresno State
