USC Competes In Season's First Scrimmage With USD

The USC women's rowing team scrimmaged USD in the first competition of the season. The competition was not scored and the two teams competed in non-traditional races. Everyone from both teams competed in three events, the 2000m, 1000m and 500m. For the 1000 and 500 races the Varsity Eights were broken into pairs. The JV Eights were divided into groups of four and the third Varsity Eights and the Novice kept the same lineup for all three races.
'It was a great morning of racing for both teams,' Said Head Coach and Rowing Program Director Zenon Babraj. This race is was perfect practice to help both teams prepare for the upcoming season. The Trojans are now preparing to go to Sacramento for their spring camp for the season's final preparation.
The scrimmage gave Tatiana Boldyreva and captain Kinga Marciszewska practice at stroking the Varsity Eight A and B teams, respectively. The Women of Troy will officially open their spring season March 3rd, against Sacramento State on Lake Natoma, Calif., the site of Pac-10 Championships.
