Men's Golf Places Sixth at the 2006 Puerto Rico Classic

The Arizona State men's golf team placed sixth overall at the 2006 Puerto Rico Classic. The Sun Devils shot a six-over 870 (285-300-285). Georgia took the top spots at the Puerto Rico Classic. The team garnered first place honors after shooting a 21-under 843 (281-283-279) and Georgia's Chris Kirk won individualist honors after carding an eleven-under 205 (70-68-67).
Florida, Oklahoma State, Alabama, and East Tennessee State rounded out the top five respectively.
Last year's Puerto Rico Classic Champion Alejandro Canizares finished in fifth. Canizares shot a team best four-under 212 (69-73-70). Junior Niklas Lemke shot a one-over 217 (78-73-66) to tie for 23rd. Senior Lenny Park tied for 38th after shooting a four-over 220 (68-78-74). Freshman Benjamin Alvarado Holley finished tied for 44th after shooting a five-over 221 (70-76-75) and freshman Ryan Kelley finished 90th after shooting a 27-over 243 (78-78-87).
Next up, the Sun Devils travel to Las Vegas, Nev. to compete in the South Highlands Championship March 10-12.
