Troy Opens Pac-10 Championships

USC's 800y free relay and 200y medley relay both posted fourth-place finishes on the brief first day of the 2006 Men's Pac-10 Swimming Championships at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center on Wednesday (March 1) in Federal Way, Wash.
Arizona and California are tied for first after the first night's events, consisting of two relays. Stanford is third and USC is fourth.
USC's quartet of Viktor Bodrogi, Mihaly Flaskay, Sam Masson and Sean Sussex took fourth in the 200y medley relay in a season-best and NCAA automatic time of 1:26.50, only 1.06 off the first-place time from California. USC's time was just off its school record set in 2005 of 1:26.45.
Troy's 800y free relay was also fourth in 6:27.69. Arizona finished first.
Thursday's action will feature preliminaries for the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, and 50 freestyle starting at 11 a.m. At 6 p.m. the finals of the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle and 200 freestyle relay will be contested. The Championships continue through Saturday.
