McPherson Wins High Jump in First Day at Alex Wilson Invite

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Freshman Inika McPherson won the high jump during the first day of competition at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind., on Friday.

McPherson notched a 1.76m (5-09.25) to win the event on Friday. The Port Arthur, Texas native recorded her season-high of 1.80m (5-10.75) at the Tyson Invitational on Feb. 11. The mark was also a provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Indoor Championship next weekend.

The distance medley relay team of sophomores Alex and Andy McClary, freshmen Jake Hanson and Mark Matusak were clocked at 9:46.05 in tonight's race.

In tomorrow's action, sophomore Alex McClary will compete in the 800, seniors Osarhiemen Omwanghe will compete in the 60m hurdles and Antonette Carter in the 60m, sophomores Cassandra Strickland will compete in the triple jump and Ed Wright in the high jump and Freshman Mackenzie Pierce will run in the 800m.
