TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 44 Arizona State men's tennis team dropped its third match in a row, as they lost 4-1 to No. 22 Georgia Tech at the Bill Moore Center in Atlanta this Friday afternoon. The number three and four matches were suspended after Georgia Tech clinched the competition.
In the doubles action, only one Sun Devil team was able to clinch their match as Jonathan Kinsella and T.J. Bellama defeated Scott Blackmon and Zachary Rath 8-6 in the number one spot. In the number two spot, the Yellow Jacket team of David North and George Gvelesiani swept past ASU's Wes Miller and Nick Hegarty 8-3. The Sun Devil team of Ryan Waits and Christopher Biro also dropped their match as Georgia Tech's Marko Rajevac and Jordan Delass squeaked 8-6.
The singles competition did not look much better for the Sun Devils as they were only able to win one match. Kinsella was the lone Sun Devil to win his match as he defeated Georgia Tech's Rath in two sets, 6-4, 6-3.
Biro dropped his match in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 to Rajevac. Miller and Waits both fought back hard after dropping their first sets, but lost 7-5 in the second.
The Sun Devils fall to 5-4 and return home this Monday to take on the No. 57 Northwestern Wildcats at 1:30 p.m. at the Whiteman Center in Tempe, Ariz.
