Reagan Pariseau's Journal From The 2006 Pac-10 Women's Basketball Tournament - Day 2
March 3, 2006
Kristen and I woke up at 9:15 on Friday morning and headed down to breakfast at 9:30. Everyone was bright eyed and bushy-tailed and ready for the day! After breakfast we had about an hour of downtime so we went back up to the room and watched some T.V. and got changed for practice.
Around 10:30 I went into Jessica (our trainer's) room to get taped for practice. The line was quite long because several girls were getting treatment for various aches and pains, but it's just part of the maintenance especially for our long season! After getting taped Kristen and I headed down to the bus for an 11:30 a.m. departure for practice.
Our first practice was about an hour and a half at San Jose Community College. Practice was focused and the team is very anxious and excited to get the tournament underway! After SJCC we headed straight to HP Pavilion where we will be playing all of our games. We had about 45 minutes of structured shooting which was great so we could get used to the lighting, floor, and rims.
After our structured shooting we had TOGO's sandwiches waiting for us on the bus. Jill and I always split an egg salad and a turkey sandwich at TOGO's so we can get the best of both! When we got back to the hotel we had about an hour before study hall so Kristen and I took showers and got ready for the day. Having study hall on the road helps keep us on top of classes and fill up some of our down time. After study hall we had about another hour of time to kill so Kristen and I went back to the room and watched some more T.V. and I messed around on my laptop catching up with e-mails and facebook (I know, it's addicting though!).
Before we knew it, 5:30 p.m. was upon us and it was time to go back to the HP Pavilion to check out our possible opponents for Saturday's game. We watched the first half of the Washington St. vs. Oregon St. game. Oregon St. ended up winning and we are excited about that matchup!
For dinner, we ate at Gordon Biersch and the food was delicious! Bri, Danielle, and I all had steak and mashed potatoes. After dinner, we walked a couple of blocks back to the hotel and we had about another hour to kill before our team meeting in Charli's room at 9 p.m. My parents are in town for the tournament so I was able to go up to their room and visit for a little bit before watching dubs on Oregon St. Well the meeting was supposed to be at 9 and I guess it got changed to 8:45 p.m. Somewhere along the way my roommate, Kristen Kovesdy, failed to deliver the message!
Well everyone on our team knows that I am NEVER late to anything and being on time is something that I really value and it stresses me out if I cut it close. Well they all decided to play a joke on me so Charli sent me a text message that said WE ARE MEETING RIGHT NOW!!!! So you can imagine I was a little flustered walking into the meeting and seeing all my teammates waiting with their notebooks. Needless to say, everyone had a big laugh but I wasn't in trouble. Kristen took the blame!
After the meeting my parents came over to my room and hung out with me, Jill, Kristen, and Cristina for a little bit. My mom thought it would be funny and brought over a picture of me during my freshman year of high school basketball - braces and all! Needless to say, it was sad! We had some laughs about that picture for a while! For the rest of the night we hung out in my room relaxing and watching Scary Movie 3. Bed checks are at 11 tonight. We are all chomping at the bit to start playing, it's been a whole week!
Everyone is focused and our team is so ready it's unbelievable! Post season is a very exciting time of year! Until next time...
