Track & Field Completes Day One of Last Chance Meets

TEMPE, Ariz. - Several members of the Arizona State University track and field team competed in Last Chance meets Friday with three field athletes competing in the Dave Barrett Air Force Open and several others at the Alex Wilson Invitational (Notre Dame).

At the Air Force Academy, two pole vaulters and one long jumper competed, but none recorded NCAA qualifying marks. On the women's side, Cara Walker placed second in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.78m (12-04.75) while Stephanie Garnett place third in the long jump with a mark of 5.98m (19-02.75). The men saw Brandon Glenn placed in a third-place tie in the men's pole vault with a mark of 4.88m (16-00.00).

In South Bend, Ind., the men's distance medley relay team of Ryan Warrenburg, Rich Allen, Jack Mann and Aaron Aguayo just missed an NCAA qualifying mark as they placed 14th in the event with a time of 9:44.20. The NCAA cut-off is 9:43.70.

Last chance meets continue through Saturday. Those athletes that qualify will head to Fayetteville, Ark., next weekend for the 2006 NCAA Indoor Championships hosted by Arkansas. The list of qualifiers will be released early next week following declarations.
