Reagan Pariseau's Journal From The 2006 Pac-10 Women's Basketball Tournament - Day 3
March 4, 2006
The alarm clock sounded at 9 a.m. sharp on Saturday morning. Kristen and I headed straight to walk through and stretching. After pre-game meal we headed back up to the rooms to get showered and ready for the game and of course get taped by our lovely trainer, Jessica.
Walking to the bus gets me so psyched for the game because our band plays as we walk through! We love the band! As soon as I sit down on the bus I usually start listening to my ipod. Well today it just decided to stop working and no sound would come out! I was so bummed!
We arrived at HP Pavilion and watched the tail end of the Cal vs. UCLA game which had pretty much already been decided. We headed into the locker room for pre-game talk and to go over Oregon State's personnel. The team seemed locked in and ready to go. We didn't play the first half like we had practiced all week. We came out a step slow and didn't attack. We let OSU be the aggressor and they played harder than us. With about 8 minutes to go in the half, we finally got our act together and started playing Sun Devil basketball.
We cut the lead to eight heading into the locker room at half time. The second half was a completely different game. We attacked offensively and tightened up our defense. We pulled out an 8-point win. The fact that we were down 18 at one point and managed to pull out a `W' really showed our true character as a team tonight. We just took it one possession at a time and battled the entire game. It's March and no opponent is easy because everyone is playing like it's their last game.
After the game we had Pita Pit waiting for us on the bus. When we got back to the hotel Kristen and I took showers to get ready for dinner and relaxed. We left for dinner around 5:45 p.m. The place we went to was like gourmet fast food/cafeteria style. Every body grabbed their own tray, drinks, and silverware. It was a strange set up but the food was excellent. Whenever we win on the road we get dessert, so you know we took advantage of that! The restaurant had a marvelous chocolate fondue dessert that a bunch of us shared!
Immediately after dinner we had a team meeting in Charli's room to go over the game plan for UCLA. This will be the third time we've played them this year so we already have a pretty good idea of what to expect. After the meeting I had about two-and-a-half hours until 11 p.m. bed checks. I did a little bit of studying for my Anatomy/Physiology class, called a 'good' friend, and of course, caught up on facebook. I had about an hour or so to spend with my parents so I went and hung out with them in their room. I headed back to our room around 10 p.m. because I felt bad for leaving Kristen alone for so long, but Jill was there to keep her company.
Well we got our first-game jitters out of the way and we are pumped for our matchup against UCLA on Sunday! Go Devils!
