Three Huskies To Compete At Women's NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

SEATTLE - Washington swimmers Jessica Buchanan, Brittany Epperson and Sharon Olson will compete in the 2006 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Athens, Ga. The meet will run March 16-18 at the Gabrielsen Natatorium inside the Ramsey Center on the campus of the University of Georgia.
Buchanan, a sophomore, is making her second consecutive trip to the NCAA meet and will swim the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Buchanan ranks second on the UW all-time list in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.35 and ranks third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:15.03. She posted both times in December at the Husky Invitational.
Olson, a senior, competed at the 2003 NCAA Championships in the 200 freestyle and 200 and 400 medley relays and 200, 400 and 800 freestyle relays. In 2004, Olson swam in the 200 IM and 200 freestyle at the NCAA Championships. This year, Olson has qualified in the 100 and 200 freestyles. She ranks second on the UW all-time list in the 200 free with a time of 1:48.18, and third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.53. Olson posted both lifetime bests at the 2005 Pac-10 Championships last month.
Epperson, a junior, is making her first appearance at the NCAA Championships after qualifying in the 50 (23.16) and 100 (49.87) freestyle. Epperson ranks second on the UW all-time chart in both events with lifetime best swims at the 2005 Husky Invitational in December.
