Cardinal Doubles Teams Fall in Semifinals at Pacific Coast Doubles Championships

Both of Stanford's doubles teams were beaten today in the semifinals at the 117th Pacific Coast Doubles Championship at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club in La Jolla, CA. The Cardinal's doubles teams of Blake Muller and James Pade, and James Wan and Jon Wong each won their first four matches in the tournament before begin defeated today.
Muller and Pade, who were unbeaten as a doubles team before today, suffered their first loss of the year in today's semifinals. Ivor Lovrak and Pedro Rico of Pepperdine recorded a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Pade and Muller. Wan and Wong took Toby Haerle and Robert Searle of Rice to three games before losing 5-6, 7-5, 6-1.
Stanford was impressive in the three-day tournament as the three Cardinal doubles teams combined for a 10-3 record. Muller and Pade, and Wan and Wong each went 4-1 while Dave Ryan and Ken Kao went 2-1 in the tournament.
The Cardinal returns to action Mar. 10-11 with road matches at Arizona State and Arizona.
