Bruins Take First-Round Lead at Guadalajara Invitational

The second-ranked UCLA women's golf team took the lead after the first day of competition at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational, hosted by Cal at the Guadalajara Country Club.

The Bruins posted a team score of 291 (+3) and led USC by one stroke after 18 holes. Top-ranked Duke was third at 293 (+5), followed by Georgia at 294 (+6) and Arizona State at 297 (+9).

Individually for the Bruins, freshmen Tiffany Joh and Jane Park were tied for fifth place at even par 72. Senior Susie Mathews was tied for eighth at 73 (+1) and sophomore Amie Cochran was tied for 16th at 74 (+2). Sophomore Brianna Loyear was tied for 58th after posting an 87.

Freshman Ryann O'Toole, playing as an individual, was tied for 38th after posting a 78.

Washington's Paige Mackenzie was the first-round leader after firing a 69 (-3).
