Mackenzie Alone in First After Round One in Mexico

Guadalajara, Mexico - Washington senior Paige Mackenzie shot a 3-under 69 in the first round of the Guadalajara Invitational today, giving her a one-stroke lead over three golfers headed into the second round. The 25th-ranked Huskies shot a 17-over 305 to place ninth as a team. UCLA is in first with a 3-over 291.

Mackenzie, a two-time All-American and Golfweek's No. 1-ranked golfer entering the spring season, leads the Huskies with a 72.85 stroke average. Today's 69 was her fourth round in the 60s on the season. She is one stroke in front of Duke's Anna Grzebien, USC's Irene Cho and Arizona's Lauren Espinosa.

Washington's Sung Ea Lee and Amber Prange both shot 6-over 78 to tie for 38th in the first round. Courtney McCracken and Ashley Bickerton also tied each other, with each player carding an 8-over 80 and placing 48th.

The second round begins tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. (CT). The third round is scheduled for Wednesday.
