No. 13 Cal in 6th After 2nd Round of Cal Guadalajara Invitational

GUADALAJARA, Mexico - No. 13 California climbed one spot to sixth place Tuesday after the second round of the Cal Guadalajara Invitational at the Guadalajara Country Club. The Golden Bears fired a score of nine-over 297 today and are at 598 through two rounds of the 11-team tournament.

No. 5 USC holds a three-shot advantage at 575 following Tuesday's tournament-low round of five-under 283. No. 2 UCLA is second at 578, followed by No. 3 Arizona State (585), No. 1 Duke (590) and No. 8 Georgia (595).

USC's Irene Cho holds a commanding seven-stroke lead at 10-under 134 following a round of eight-under (64) today. UCLA's Jane Park stands second at 141, while Arizona's Lauren Espinosa and Washington's Paige Mackenzie - the first-day leader - are tied for third at 144.

Cal senior Sophia Sheridan carded a 71 to climb from a tie for 22nd into a tie for 10th at 146. She also recorded her tournament-best second eagle. Cal freshman Allison Goodman, who tops the field with 29 pars overall, is tied for 17th at 148 after shooting a 75 in the second round. Senior Sofie Andersson owns a share of 28th (152), and junior Mika Takayama and freshman Shannon Yocum are tied for 30th (153). Yocum, who leads the Bears with seven birdies over the last two days, bettered her opening-round score by three strokes with a 75.

The third and final round begins at 7:30 a.m. CT with players starting at holes one and 10.
