Cal Football Season Tickets Go on Sale Today
March 8, 2006
BERKELEY, Calif. - Season tickets for the 2006 California football season go on sale starting today, March 8, to the general public. The Golden Bears, who had an 8-4 record in 2005, are coming off a successful season that ended a 27-3 rout of Stanford in the 108th Big Game and a 35-28 victory over Brigham Young in the Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas Bowl. The bowl win marked Cal's second postseason win in three seasons and Cal's third consecutive bowl appearance.
Fans can purchase 2006 Cal football season tickets in a variety of ways - by calling 1-800-Go-Bears, visiting the Cal Ticket Office Web site or stopping by the Cal Ticket Office at 2223 Fulton Street in Berkeley. The Cal Ticket Office is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Last year's season ticket holders who have not renewed their season tickets for 2006 must renew their tickets by the March 21 deadline.
Seating locations will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Seating locations for new season ticket holders will be assigned in early June after all of last year's season ticket holders are seated for 2006.
The GoldZone General Admission and Family Plans sold out last season. Family Plans and GoldZone season tickets for new customers are currently unavailable until all 2005 season ticket holders have had a chance to renew their season tickets. To be placed on a waiting list, new customers must contact the Cal Athletic Ticket Office.
Cal will host another exciting slate of games at Memorial Stadium next fall. The 2006 home opponents include UCLA, Oregon, Arizona State, Minnesota and Stanford for the 109th Big Game.
The Bears return a talented offensive attack that includes seven returning starters. Coach Jeff Tedford's team boasts arguably the best running back duo in the nation in Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett. Led by returning sophomore DeSean Jackson, the Bears also possess a dangerous group of wide receivers that can stretch the field at any given time.
The Cal defense will return eight starters from 2005, led by Brandon Mebane and Desmond Bishop. Tedford and his coaching staff also bring in another strong group of recruits to an already deep roster that has a total of 53 returning lettermen.
