Day One of National Invitational Softball Tournament Rained Out

March 10, 2006

Sunnyvale, Calif. - The 2006 National Invitational Softball Tournament (NIST) was unable to start pool play competition Friday afternoon as overnight and current inclement weather left the fields unplayable, cancelling all games on the day.

The Devils will rest up before trying to start competition tomorrow as the pool play for the tournament has been shifted to Saturday's action, with ASU facing off against the Southern Illinois Salukis at 10 a.m. followed with a 2 p.m. start time against UC Davis.

The games are scheduled to be held at the Twin Creeks Sports Complex in Sunnyvale, weather pending.

After bracket play is completed the tournament directors and schools involved in the tournament will then decide the set-up and match-ups for Sunday in which the Devils could be playing as many as three games possibly before returning to Tempe Sunday night.
