Johnson Enters the 800m Final with Third Best Qualifying Time

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Sophomore Alysia Johnson finished second in her heat of the 800m on Friday at the NCAA Indoor Championship in Fayetteville, Ark., qualifying her for the final on Saturday.
Johnson broke the school record for a second time this season, with her time of 2:05.49, which was also is her personal best. The record was previously set by Johnson at MPSF Championship on Feb. 25 with her time of 2:05.52. The Canyon Country native enters Saturday's final with the third best time. Johnson falls behind Michigan's Katie Erdman and Minnesota's Heather Dorniden who both finished the prelims with a time of 2:05.36.
Cal's other competitor at the NCAA Indoor Championship is junior Jonas Hallgrimsson in the heptathlon. Hallgrimsson sits with a total of 2041 going into tomorrow's final event. He has collected a 7.69 in the 60m, 42-06.75 in the shot put, 6-03.25 in the high jump. Hallgrimsson fouled in the long jump.
Hallgrimsson will wrap up the heptathlon in tomorrow's final day of competition. Johnson is scheduled to run the 800m final at 6:45 p.m. (EST).
