UCLA Awarded Five Seed In NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament

Pac-10 Tournament champions UCLA (20-10) earned a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament and will face 12th-seeded Bowling Green (28-2) in first round action on Sunday, Mar. 19 at Purdue. The game will take place at approximately 2:30 pm and will air on ESPN and ESPNU.
The winner of the UCLA-Bowling Green game will face the winner of the Purdue (24-6, No. 4 seed)-Missouri State (17-14, No. 13 seed) game on Tuesday, Mar. 21. That game will tip off at noon.
This will be UCLA's ninth appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins last made the tournament in 2004, when they lost to host Minnesota in the first round, 92-81. UCLA's farthest run in the tournament came in 1999, when the Bruins advanced all the way to the Elite Eight.
UCLA, who is ranked No. 21 in this week's AP poll and No. 23 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll, was one of six Pac-10 teams to make the tournament. The six teams is an all-time best for the Conference.
