USC's Lindsey Nelson Named Pac-10 Women's Tennis Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - USC sophomore Lindsey Nelson has been named the Pac-10 Women's Tennis Player of the Week for Mar. 6 - 12, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Nelson, from Villa Park, Calif., was the only Woman of Troy to face two ranked opponents last week. In the No. 1 singles position, she helped lead USC through a clean sweep of two-set victories in matches against Washington and No. 73 Washington State to open Conference play. On Friday, Nelson beat Washington's No. 79 Dinka Hadzic, 6-2, 6-2. The following day, the sophomore defeated Washington State's No. 88 Ekaterina Burduli 6-2, 7-6.
Nelson teamed up with Luana Magnani at the No. 1 doubles position on Friday to defeat Washington's Hadzic and Victoria Brymer, 8-7. USC's doubles' matches on Saturday were cancelled due to weather.
This is Nelson's first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and second weekly honor all-time for USC.
