Gymnastics Coach Spini Named 2006 Pac-10 Co-Coach of the Year

Arizona State University head gymnastics coach John Spini was named the 2006 Pacific-10 Conference Co-Coach of the Year by his peers Saturday at the conference champiosnhips in Corvallis, Oregon. Spini shared the award with Stanford's Kristen Smyth. Spini, in his 26th season at ASU, led his squad to a ninth-place national ranking in 2006 and a fourth-place finish at the conference championships.

Spini won the award for the fourth time as he won in 1994, 1995 and 1996.

The 2006 Pac-10 Conference Gymnast of the Year was Kate Richardson of UCLA while the league Co-Freshmen of the Year were Ariana Berlin of UCLA and Jami Lanz of Oregon State.
