No. 2 Cal varsity eight wins a third consecutive Windermere Crew Classic.

BERKELEY, CALIF. - For a third consecutive year the Bears dominate the field at the Windermere Crew Classic. Cal won six of the seven races entered and all three varsity races.
The varsity eight won their first race, against no. 4 Ohio State by six seconds. In a race no. 16 Boston University the Bears won by 12 seconds. The Bears rowed to an open water, 11 second win over no. 3 Virginia.
The second varsity eight defeated Ohio State by four seconds and Boston University by 16 seconds. In the closest race of the regatta Cal jumped out to a small lead after 500 meters, but Virginia came back to tie the race at the half way marker. In the next 100 meters Virginia steadily increased their lead to a three second margin, dealing the Bears only defeat of the weekend.
The novice eight had one race this weekend against Pac-10 foe, Washington. The Bears started out the race strong and never looked back, winning by 15 seconds.
Cal races at the San Diego Crew Classic, April 1-2, 2006, in San Diego California. In 2005 the Bears won a third consecutive Jessop-Whittier Cup, varsity championship, at the annual regatta.
