Hartley Wins 2nd Commonwealth Games Gold

March 27, 2006

USC senior Blythe Hartley, competing for Canada, won her second gold medal of the meet when she won the women's 3-meter springboard with a total of 690.05 points on Saturday (March 25) at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia.

'The morning didn't go that well, it was definitely a tough day,' Hartley said. 'I've been practicing my dives for the entire week. Even though I didn't start very well today, I ended on a good note so I'm very happy with that.

'The Commonwealth Games is a good experience, so different to everything else. Everyone's so friendly, it's a phenomenal atmosphere.'

Hartley won the 1-meter springboard on Friday. Her two golds in Australia came one week after winning titles in the same events at the 2006 NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga.
