Track and Field Wraps up Action at Stanford Invite

PALO ALTO, Calif. - California's track and field team wrapped up action at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday in Palo Alto, Calif. Only a few Golden Bear athletes competed in the final day's events.

In the women's shot put, freshman Emilee Strot finished fifth with her season-best mark of 48-06.00. Sophomore Daisy Van Ravenswaay finished one spot below Strot in sixth with her throw of season-best 47-08.50. Strot also finished fourth in the discus throw with her season-best mark of 170-11.

Junior Carrie Johnson finished second in the hammer throw with her mark of 193-09. Junior Alex Hunnings threw 160-11 in the hammer throw also.In the men's high jump sophomore Ed Wright finished fifth with his jump of 6-08.75.

Freshman Matt Miller finished sixth in the 3000m steeplechase with his season-best time of 9:29.95. In the men's 10,000m junior Giliat Ghebray was clocked at 29:44.11. Freshman Jake Schmitt finished the 10,000m at 30:15.38.

The Bears will next compete in Austin, Texas at the Texas Relays on April 6-8.
