April 2, 2006

RESULTS

Sophomore Rhi Jeffrey, redshirt junior Mihaly Flaskay and two men's relays all won titles during a strong Trojan showing in the final two days of the 2006 U.S. Spring Nationals in Federal Way, Wash.

Jeffrey, already with a pair of second-places to her credit, won the 50m free in 25.47, breaking the school record of 26.15 set by Karen Campbell at the same meet in 1999. Jeffrey also went under Campbell's time in prelims.

Flaskay, a Hungary native, won the 100m breaststroke in 1:02.18, breaking the Trojan record previously owned by Ryosuke Imai, who went 1:02.69 at the same meet in 2000.

Flaskay was also part of USC's victorious 400m medley relay consisting also of juniors Viktor Bodrogi, Sam Masson and Sean Sussex, who won in 3:44.51. That marked erased the 2003 record of 3:45.58 (Flaskay was also part of that as a true freshman).

USC's other relay win came in the 400m free relay, when Tyler Wilson, Bodrogi, sophomore Bryce Elser and Sussex won in 3:28.09.

Bodrogi, also from Hungary, took second in the 100m backstroke (56.59) while Sussex won the consolation final of the 50m free (23.45).

Freshman Rebecca Soni and junior Larsen Jensen will complete at the FINA World Swimming Championships (scm) from April 5-9 in Shanghai, China.
