Oregon's Dominika Dieskova Named Pac-10 Women's Tennis Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - OREGON junior Dominika Dieskova has been named the Pac-10 Women's Tennis Player of the Week for Mar. 27 - Apr. 2, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Dieskova, from Bratislava, Slovakia, enjoyed an undefeated trip over two Top-15 opponents in the Bay Area last weekend. On Friday, the junior defeated Stanford's two-time NCAA individual champion and 15th-ranked Amber Liu, 6-2, 6-2. Dieskova followed up on Saturday with her first victory this season over California's Suzi Fodor, who is currently ranked No. 10 by the ITA. Dieskova, who won the first set 6-4, fell in the second 7-6 (7-4) before going on a 10-point super tie-breaker. Fodor tied the game at 6, until Dieskova won four straight points for the victory.
This is Dieskova's first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and the first weekly honor all-time for Oregon.
