Cougar Swimmer Erin McCleave Concludes Spring Nationals in Style

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - Washington State swimmer Erin McCleave completed her meet with a seventh place finish in the 1500m freestyle during the 2006 U.S. National Spring Championships held at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center, Saturday.

A native of Rutherlen, Australia, McCleave swam a 17:02.10 during her first attempt at the event in a long course meet. She finished second in her heat and had the second fastest time in the event until five swimmers surpassed her in the final heat. Earlier in the meet, McCleave finished 11th in the 200m freestyle and 24th in the 400m freestyle.

McCleave teamed with Monika Povilonyte, Kayli Changstrom and Kenzie Reiter for a 14th place finish in the 4 x 100m medley relay.

Other Washington State results included Changstrom's 61st place finish in the 200m individual medley with a time of 2:26.87.
