SCOUTING THE PAC-10
During Pac-10 play, Cal faces some of the nation's top teams. Seven of the eight Pac-10 teams are currently ranked in the nation's top 25, and six of those seven teams are in the top 10: UCLA (2/3), Arizona (2/3), Stanford (6/8), California (7/8), Oregon State (6/7), Arizona State (9/9) and Washington (14/14).
Pac-10 schools have won the NCAA title in 17 of the 24 years softball has been an NCAA sport. In 2005, all eight Pac-10 teams made the WCWS regionals for the fourth time ever.
CAL IN THE POLLS
The Bears moved up a spot - from eighth to seventh - in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll. In the last week's USA Today/ NFCA poll, Cal was ranked No. 8. The new poll will be released April 5.
A LOOK AT OREGON
Due to rain over the weekend, Oregon only played one Pac-10 game, falling to Arizona 4-1. Kayleen Hudson (.358) and Breanne Sabol (.354) lead the Ducks in batting. Amy Harris and Melissa Rice have both made 17 appearances this season. Harris is 8-4 and Rice is 5-3 this season. Last season, the Ducks were eliminated in the NCAA Regional round.
The Bears won all three games against Oregon last season, with scores of 6-5 in Eugene, Ore., and 1-0 and 1-0 in Berkeley. The Bears lead the all-time series 63-29.

Oregon State went 1-1 to open the Pac-10 season, with a 2-1 win over Arizona and a 3-2 loss against Arizona State in Corvallis, Ore. The Beavers went 15-0 in the month of March. The Beavers were scheduled to face the Sun Devils on Sunday, but the game was rained out. Last year, OSU was eliminated in the NCAA Regionals by eventual champion Michigan.
