No. 16 Arizona State Blanks Washington State in Pacific-10 Tennis

PULLMAN, Wash. - Sixteenth-ranked Arizona State posted a 7-0 win over host Washington State in Pacific-10 women's tennis action at the Stadium Way Tennis Center, Friday.
The Sun Devils (11-6, 2-2 Pac-10) earned the doubles point by capturing victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions and followed with six straight-set wins in singles play to record the shutout.
In the featured singles match, ASU's Sabrina Capannolo, ranked 116th nationally, posted a 6-4, 6-3 win over No. 93 Ekaterina Burduli at the No. 1 position.
Rebecca Rankin gave the Sun Devils a 2-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Marjolein van de Ven at No. 4 singles. Clarke, ranked 59th nationally, finished off Toth 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 and Jessica Leitch clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Bianca Selaru.
'We improved our play over the last few years against Arizona State,' WSU Head Coach Lisa Hart said. 'We did not get the result we wanted, but we had a big win at No. 1 doubles and that gives us some momentum heading into our match with Arizona.'
Washington State will host Arizona in a Pacific-10 match Saturday at noon.
