USC Women's and Men's 4x100m Relay Teams Qualify For Finals At The Texas Relays

The USC women's 4x100m relay team of senior Virginia Powell, sophomore Jessica Onyepunuka, junior Candice Davis and sophomore Carol Rodriguez tied their season-best time of 44.12 today (April 7) in the preliminaries to win their heat and post the third-best qualifying time in the relay event at the 79th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays being held in Austin, Tex. The finals of the women's 4x100m relay and the conclusion of the Texas Relays will be held tomorrow.
Davis also ran a 13.41 time in the women's 100m HH to place eighth and qualify for tomorrow's finals. Rodriguez ran an 11.52 time in the 100m dash to qualify for tomorrow's finals with the eighth-fastest time.
The USC men's 4x100m relay team of senior Garry Jones, freshman Matthew Palmer, senior Philip Francis and sophomore Roy Alugbue also won their preliminary heat with a time of 40.16, the fifth-fastest qualifying time for tomorrow's finals.
Junior Michelle Sanford placed seventh in the women's long jump with a jump of 19-9 3/4.
