California's Conor Niland Named Pac-10 Men's Tennis Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - CALIFORNIA senior Conor Niland has been named the Pac-10 Men's Tennis Player of the Week for Apr. 3 - 9, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Niland, from Limerick, Ireland, defeated USC's Dejan Cvetkovic on Friday in two sets, 6-0, 6-3. The senior, who is currently ranked No. 11 by the ITA, then upset UCLA's first-ranked Benjamin Kohlloeffel of UCLA on Saturday, 6-4, 6-3. The victory marks the second time this season Niland has upset his Bruin rival. On Feb. 2, Niland, who was ranked No. 41 at the time, defeated then-No. 3 Kohlloeffel in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2 in Berkeley. Niland's weekend sweep extends his winning streak to 16 consecutive matches, the longest streak in the nation.
This is Niland's third Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and third weekly honor all-time for California.
