Lexington Reservoir, Los Gatos, CA
Against strong west coast competition, Stanford's Lightweight Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ won their events at Lexington Reservoir on Saturday. The Novice 4+ finished third.
The Varsity 4+ began the strong showing for the Card Lights, leading the first race of the day from start to finish, finishing in 7:48.7, beating lightweight crews from Cal (7:59.5) and Sonoma State (8:00.1).
Facing JV heavyweight crews from Santa Clara and St. Mary's, Stanford's lightweight V8+ knew they had a close race in front of them. The Card were able to put a complete race together, winning in 7:01.4 to the SCU Bronco's 7:04.7 amd the Gael's 7:09.2.
Stanford's final race of the day was in the Novice 4+. The lightweights had a strong start, but were overtaken by the Cal Lightweights (7:51.6) and St. Mary's (7:54.5), finishing in 8:00.0. Rounding out the Novice 4+ event were Santa Clara (8:08.0), Sonoma State (8:12.0) and the second Novice 4+s from Santa Clara (8:49.0) and California lightweights (9:14.7).
