USC's Anca Anastasiu Named Pac-10 Women's Tennis Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - USC junior Anca Anastasiu has been named the Pac-10 Women's Tennis Player of the Week for Apr. 3 - 9, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Anastasiu, from Pretoria, South Africa, grabbed the Trojans' only win at No. 1 Stanford on Saturday with her 6-7, 6-3, 7-6 marathon win over No. 41 Whitney Deason at the No. 5 position. On Friday, Anastasiu trailed 5-7, 0-2 to California's Claire Ilcinkas, when the match was delayed by rain. Play resumed on Sunday, and Anastasiu powered back to a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 victory. Anastasiu remains undefeated in dual match singles play at 15-0.
This is Anastasiu's first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and the third weekly honor all-time for USC.
