Stanford Golf Prepares For U.S. Intercollegiate Presented By The Maple Fund

The Stanford men's golf team hosts the U.S. Intercollegiate presented by The Maples Fund, this weekend, April 15-16, at the par 7-, 6,742 yard Stanford Golf Course. The 17 teams will play 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday. Both days are schduled for a shotgun start with Saturday's beginning at 7:30 a.m. and Sunday's starting at 8 a.m.
Joining the Cardinal this year are Rice, Northern Colorado, Washington, Washington State, UCLA, USC, Oregon, Oregon State, California, UC Irvine, UC Davis, San Jose State, Kansas, Hawaii-Hilo, San Diego State and Long Beach State.
Last year, USC took top team honored with a six-over 846 for the tournament. Arizona State's Pat Moore took top individual honors after carding a two-under par 208 for the tourney.
The Cardinal finished fifth at last year's U.S. Intercollegiate, carding an 869 for the weekend. Rob Grube was one of three players who tied for second with a one-under par 209 (71-70-68). Pat Phillips, who competed as an individual, tied for ninth with a 215 (72-69-74). Kevin Blue tied for 23rd with a 218 (74-71-73) on the afternoon while Zack Miller turned in a 219 (73-77-69) to tied for 25th. Scott MacDonald tied for 54th (77-74-74) with a 225, along with Cardinal Matthew Savage (76-71-78). Stanford's Kyle Gentry, competing as an individual, tied for 72nd (78-75-75--228) while Matthew Shin tied for 78th (76-76-77--229) one stroke back. Teddy Collins, also competiting as an individual, placed 86th (76-76-81--233).
Stanford will be paired with USC and California the first day of competition.
