USC's Pole Vaulters and Jumpers Get Things Started at Mt. SAC Relays

The USC track and field team began competition at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. yesterday (April 13) with pole vaulters getting things started for the Trojans. The Mt. SAC Relays continue through tomorrow with a majority of Trojan athletes beginning competition today. USC will also send a few field athletes to the Long Beach State Invitational tomorrow in Long Beach, Calif.

Sophomore Daniel Corrigan came in first in Thursday's men's pole vault university/open competition clearing a height of 15-7 3/4 (4.77m), winning on misses. Derek Scott tied for fifth, also clearing 15-7 3/4.

Senior Shannon Lewallen placed ninth in the women's pole vault university/open division, clearing 11-11 3/4 (3.65m). Freshman Kenisha Strong placed 22nd by matching her season best with a pole vault of 10-11 3/4.

Senior Katarzyna Klisowska came in 10th in the women's long jump university/open division with a wind-aided jump of 17-2 1/4 (5.24m). Freshman Brittany Daniels jumped a wind-aided 16-6 (5.03m) to finish 14th.
