Men's Tennis Topped by Arizona, 5-2

TEMPE, Ariz. - The ASU Men's Tennis team wrapped up their season Saturday with a tough 5-2 loss to their in-state rival, #54 Arizona (12-9, 3-4 Pac-10). The loss drops the Devils to 8-14 overall and a 2-5 conference record.
ASU came out strong, with Wes Miller and Nick Hegarty defeating Bruno Alcala and Peter Zimmer 8-4 in doubles play, but the 'Cats rallied back to take the other two doubles matches in 8-6 decisions to grab the point from the Sun Devils as Jonathan Kinsella and and T.J. Bellama fell to Jeff Groslimond and Claudio Christen and Ryan Waits and Mike Beatty were defeated by Roger Matalonga and Jason Labrosse.
Arizona sealed the match with solid play in singles as they took four of the six singles match-ups on the day from ASU. The 'Cats grabbed wins from the Devils in the 1,3,4 and 6-spots, though not without a well-fought match from ASU as Jonathan Kinsella took the 47th-ranked Roger Matalonga to three sets, but falting in the end in a 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 decision.
Christopher Biro played a tough match in the two-spot and came through in the end for ASU as he topped UA's Jeff Groslimond in a well-fought 6-7 (7-9), 7-6 (7-2), 1-0 (9-7) win.
Saturday's match marks the end of the regular season for the Sun Devils as they return to action next weekend to face-off in the Pac-10 Championships in Ojai, California.
