Ten Bruins Invited to USA Softball Selection Camps

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - USA Softball has announced the list of athletes who have been invited to its upcoming selection camps for the 2006 USA Softball Women's National Team and the 2006 World University Games team. Five current Bruins, including Caitlin Benyi, Lisa Dodd, Jodie Legaspi, Anjelica Selden and Emily Zaplatosch are among the World University Team Camp invitees.

Six UCLA-affiliated athletes are on the 30-player invitee list for the Women's National Team Camp, including Duran, Lisa Fernandez, Tairia Mims Flowers, Amanda Freed, Stacey Nuveman and Natasha Watley.

The World University Games selection camp will be held June 9-11 at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., and will be followed by the Women's National Team camp June 13-17. The Women's National Team will represent the United States at three evenths this year including the II World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City, Okla., (July 13-17) the only National Team event held on American soil. It will also participate in the ISF Women's World Championships in Beijing, China (Aug 21-Sept 7) and the Japan Cup in Yokohama, Japan (November 13-20).
