Oregon State's Cambria Miranda Named Pac-10 Softball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - OREGON STATE sophomore Cambria Miranda has been named the Pac-10 Softball Player of the Week for Apr. 18-24, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
The Camarillo, Calif. native led the Beavers with a .556 batting average (5-for-9), five runs scored, five RBI, three home runs, a double, and a 1.667 slugging percentage as Oregon State knocked off top-ranked UCLA in Los Angeles and swept a pair of games at No. 14/14 Washington. Miranda belted a home run in all three games, helping OSU to its first-ever sweep of UCLA and Washington.
OSU's victory over top-ranked UCLA was its first at Easton Stadium since the 1999 season, covering a span of 10 games. Miranda scored one of the team's two runs with a lead-off home run in the first inning.
At Washington on Saturday, Miranda hit a pair of home runs just three pitches apart during a single at-bat. The first homer was called back after a runner on base was signaled out for leaving early, but she homered again two pitches later. She went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI in the 3-2 win.
In the rubber game, Miranda went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs and three RBI. She leads the team with 11 home runs, a mark that ties for fourth in the Conference. She also leads the league in runs scored (42) and ranks fifth in the league in slugging percentage (.682).
The Beavers (5-4, 33-7), host Oregon in a double-header on Wed., Apr. 26, before meeting Cal and Stanford at home over the weekend.
This is Miranda's first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and Oregon State's 31st weekly honor all-time.
