Ryan Witz Holds Strong During Third Round of Competition at Pac-10 Championships

PALM DESERT, Calif. - After a short second day, Washington State senior Ryan Witz stays strong sitting tied for 24th as he leads the Cougars at the Pacific-10 Championships held at the par-71, 7,009 yard Canyons Course at the Bighorn Golf Club.

Witz flew through the front nine at just one over par before finishing the day where he started, knotted at 24th. Junior Kevin Chen stayed strong during the third set of 18 holes matching his first round score of 2-over 73 to climb four spots placing him tied for 28th. Chen sits just one stroke out of the top 25.

Redshirt junior Jordan Madison and sophomore Jordan Mason each fired 4-over 75s to finish the third round tied for 41st and 44th, respectively. A pair of birdies helped junior Chris Collins better his second round score by five strokes to shoot a 5-over 76 keeping him knotted at 53rd. Rounding out the Cougar contingent is Chad Carlson who fired an 85 to keep him sitting in 60th.

The Cougars head into the final day in ninth place following a third round score of 373 that landed them at 53-over 1118. UCLA (No.5/Golfstat) continues to hold the lead at 6-under 1059, six strokes ahead of Washington. The Bruins' Daniel Im also held his ground at the top spot as he goes into the final 18 holes two strokes ahead of Arizona State's Niklas Lemke at 8-under 205.

The final 18 holes of the Pacific-10 Championships will take place Wednesday, April 26 teeing off at 7:30 a.m. PDT. The winner of the tournament gets an automatic berth to the NCAA Regional.
