Women's Cross Country Team Earns Academic Honors

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State University sophomore Haley Paul and the 2005 Cougar women's Cross Country team were honored for their work in the classroom by the Women's Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association, Cougar Head Coach Jason Drake announced Wednesday.

Paul, from Phoenix, Ariz., has a 3.93 GPA and plans to major in anthropology. She finished 14th in the NCAA Div. Women's Cross Country Championships last November to become just the third women cross country All-American at WSU. Paul has reached NCAA Regional Qualifying times in both the 1500m and 5000m races this spring.

The WSU women's cross country team posted a 3.399 cumulative grade point average which was 54th-best among the 116 Division I school recognized, and fourth-highest among Pacific-10 Conference women's teams.
