April 26, 2006

Tucson, Ariz. - The Stanford women's golf team shot a 302 on the final day of competition to finish seventh overall with a three round score of 912 (299-311-302) at the 2006 Pac-10 Championships at the Oro Valley Country Club. UCLA took home the team title with a 15-over 879. Arizona State was second (880) followed by USC (891), California (896) and Arizona (907).

'It was a better day for us today,' said head coach Caroline O'Connor. 'The scores weren't quite as good as we would have liked given the wind conditions. I thought our team was resilient today though, fighting back after yesterday's round. It was a much better day for us today.'

Washington's Paige Mackenzie was the Pac-10 individual champion with a five-under par 211 for the tournament.

Stanford was led by freshman Mari Chun who placed 11th overall with a 222 (73-74-75). Teammate Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana tied for 15th in the individual standings with a 226 (74-77-75).
