PULLMAN, Wash. - Daniel Perales went 3-for-5 while Ian Kennedy allowed just two runs in eight innings Friday as the USC Trojans defeated the Washington State Cougars, 9-2, in Pac-10 Conference action at Bailey-Brayton Field. With Matt Cusick at second with two outs in the USC fifth, Frost hit an infield single with second baseman Travis Coulter making the stop before the ball rolled into center, but his throw was offline as Cusick scored for a 5-2 lead. Johnny Bowden hit his second homer of the season with a solo home run to left center in the sixth for the Trojans.

WSU put runners at the corners with two outs in the sixth, but USC shortstop Hector Estrella made a back-handed dive on a ground ball by Paul Gran and retired Murphy at second to end the inning.
