Jean-Noel Insausti and Mike Ricks Reach Finals In Pac-10 Invitational

Ojai, Calif. - The Washington doubles team composed of Jean-Noel Insausti and Mike Ricks retired Stanford's Phil Kao and Chris Rasmussen 8-5 earning themselves a spot in the Pac-10 Invitational Tournament's final match at Libby Park in Ojai Calif.
The Huskies had two pairs of doubles teams compete in the semifinal round of the Invitational Doubles Tournament. Freshmen Andy Gerst and David Chu were defeated by James Wan and Jon Wong of Stanford with a score of 8-2. Gerst and Chu overcame Arizona's Phil Kao and Chris Rasmussen in a tight 9-8 decision in the quarterfinals. The success of the Freshmen late in the season shows promise for the development of the team's future.
Insausti and Ricks played with the court chemistry that they have achieved while playing the majority of the dual season in the team's third doubles position. The duo was able to break their opponents and hold their serve to cruise to a 8-5 victory. Ricks and Insausti have recorded a record of 12-10 as a unit thus far this season.
The Pac-10 Tournament will conclude on Sunday April 28 as champions are crowned in their respective singles and doubles matches. Insausti and Ricks will compete against the Cardinal's Wan and Wong in the finals on Sunday at 12:30 P.M. Wan and Wong were victorious over the Huskies third ranked doubles team in a 8-7 decision when the Huskies played the Cardinal in a dual match on April 1.
