CAL'S NCAA REGIONAL HISTORY: Cal is making its seventh consecutive and overall appearance in an NCAA regional this year. The Bears' postseason history began with a 22nd-place showing at the NCAA West Regional in Tempe, Ariz. Cal qualified for its first of five NCAA Championships in 2001 by placing eighth at the NCAA Central Regional in West Lafayette, Ind. Cal's other NCAA regional results include: third in 2002 (West), first in 2003 (Central), fourth in 2004 (West) and third in 2005 (West). This is the first time Cal has been sent to the East Regional. In 2005, then-junior Sophia Sheridan led Cal by capturing her first collegiate title by five shots (212, -4). Cal's Sofie Andersson tied for sixth (220) at the NCAA West Regional.

PAC-10 CHAMPIONSHIPS RECAP: Cal placed fourth at the 2006 Pac-10 Championships with a score of 32-over 896, with Sophia Sheridan tying for third to lead the team (+3, 216). It marked the fifth consecutive year that Cal placed in the top half of the conference. UCLA won its third straight conference crown. Sofie Andersson tied for 15th (+13, 226) for the Bears. Both athletes earned second-team All-Pac-10 recognition.

MULTIPLE LEADERS: Three golfers have led Cal in at least one tournament this season. Sofie Andersson held top honors in four of the first five tournaments and paced the Bears at the Peg Barnard Collegiate (third place), while senior Sophia Sheridan recorded the Bears' top performance in three straight events this spring - the Wildcat Invitational (second), the Cal Guadalajara Invitational (T15th) and the Bryan National Collegiate (T26th). Sheridan paced the Bears for the fourth time in 2005-06 at the Pac-10 Championships. Junior Mika Takayama led Cal at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in October, tying for 12th for her best finish of the season.
