Three Cal Athletes Compete at the Pac-10 Multi Events

EUGENE, Ore. - Senior Scott Sobieralski and redshirt freshman Tifani Grimes opened with an impressive start at the 2006 Pac-10 Multi Event Championships, presented by 76 ProClean Gasolines, in Eugene, Ore., on Saturday afternoon.

Sobieralski is currently in seventh place with 3462 points. In the first day of the decathlon, he was clocked at 11.46 in the 100m, jumped 6.50m in the long jump, threw the shot put 12.78m, was marked at 1.89m in the high jump and ran 52.70 in the 400m. Sobieralski is the only Golden Bear to compete in the decathlon.

In her opening day in the heptathlon, Grimes sits in sixth place with 3081 points. Grimes was clocked at 14.33 in the 100m hurdles and 26.37 in the 200m. She was marked at 1.66m in the high jump and 10.74 in the shot put.

Grimes is joined by redshirt freshman Artensia Young in the heptathlon. Young is in 10th place with 2963 points. Young posted a 14.25 in the 100m hurdles, 1.57m in the high jump, 9.56m in the shot put and 25.76 in the 200m.

The 2006 Pac-10 Multi Event Championships, presented by 76 ProClean Gasolines will wrap up on Sunday in Eugene, Ore. The meet is being held at Hayward field.
