Thorson Named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - California senior pitcher Kristina Thorson has been named the Pac-10 Softball Pitcher of the Week for May 2-8, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

The Lake Forest Park, Wash., native won her career-high 30th game of the season in a complete-game shutout of Arizona State on Sunday. Thorson is now tied for third in single-season wins in school history, and Sunday's game marked her 14th shutout of the season.

In the 14 innings Thorson threw over the weekend, 13 of them were scoreless - seven against ASU on Sunday and three against Arizona on Friday. Thorson struck out 14 in her 11 total innings against the Sun Devils.

On Cal's all-time lists, Thorson is fifth in single-season strikeouts (359), fourth in career strikeouts (969) and third in career wins (95).

Thorson currently leads the conference in innings pitched (240.0), strikeouts (359), strikeouts looking (139), wins (30), appearances (44) and games started (31). She is second in ERA (0.85)
