Bruch, Hodge Win ITA Awards

Freshman Matt Bruch and assistant coach David Hodge today were recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as regional award winners. Bruch was named the ITA West Region Rookie of the Year and Player to Watch while Hodge was named West Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
Bruch has turned in an oustanding season in his first year at Stanford. He is currently ranked No. 16 in the nation in singles and is seeded ninth in the upcoming NCAA Singles Championship. He has a 25-8 overall record, was recently named First-Team All-Pac-10 and the conference's Newcomer of the Year.
Hodge is in his second season as an assistant to head coach John Whitlinger. Hodge, who came to Stanford after two years at the University of Colorado, has helped Whitlinger lead the Cardinal to a 15-3 overall record and a No. 13 national ranking.
Stanford will play Quinnipiac in the first round of the NCAA Regionals on Saturday, May 13 at 12:00 pm at the Taube Tennis Center. The Cardinal must beat Qinnipiac and win the second round match on Sunday, May 14 to advance to the NCAA Championships, which will be played at Stanford's Taube Tennis Center May 20-29.
