Mackenzie Finishes With 8-Stroke Lead

Auburn, Wash. Husky senior Paige Mackenzie shot a 1-under par 71 on Saturday to enter the clubhouse with an eight stroke lead over the next closest competitor in the NCAA Women's West Regional at Washington National Golf Course.

Mackenzie, the 2006 Pac-10 Champion, carded a three-round total of 208 (68-69-71) to guarantee her fourth-consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships, this year to be held in Columbus, Ohio from May 23-26. Mackenzie's 208 total is a career best three-round total and included just two bogeys over 54 holes.

The Huskies are currently third in the team standings behind first-place Purdue and second-place UCLA. The Huskies tallied a 288-303-297=888 to virtually lock up the team's second-consecutive NCAA Championship appearance.
